Texas Fibroid Awareness Month Events!

Uterine fibroids are one of the most common health conditions affecting women, yet many people remain unaware of how significantly they can impact daily life. These noncancerous growths can cause symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain and pressure, frequent urination, anemia, fertility challenges, pregnancy complications, and abdominal bloating. Although fibroids affect up to 80% of women by age 50, awareness, education, and research funding continue to lag behind the need. Increasing public understanding of fibroid symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options is essential to helping women make informed healthcare decisions and seek appropriate medical care.

This July, community leaders, healthcare professionals, advocates, and organizations across Texas are coming together for the 5th Annual Texas Fibroid Awareness Month campaign. The Fibroid Institute, the Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute, the Afrocentric Communiversity, Her Womb Wellness, Pearls & Promises, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and corporate partners are joining forces to shine a spotlight on the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that fibroids can create. Special attention will be given to addressing the disproportionate impact fibroids have on Black women, who are more likely to develop fibroids, experience severe symptoms, and require treatment at younger ages.

The 2026 Self-Care Community Forum Series will provide welcoming spaces where women can learn about fibroid health, connect with trusted medical experts, discover available treatment options, and participate in wellness-focused activities designed to support healing and self-care. These events are free to attend and are open to women, families, caregivers, and community members throughout Texas.

Throughout Fibroid Awareness Month, educational outreach efforts will include webinars, community forums, television and media appearances, social media campaigns, and partnerships with local organizations. Together, these initiatives will help expand access to reliable information, encourage earlier diagnosis, and connect women with resources that can improve their quality of life.

We invite you to join this statewide movement to raise awareness and support women affected by uterine fibroids. Follow and tag @txwearwhite on social media, share educational resources with your community, and consider attending one or more of the events listed below. By working together, we can help ensure that more women receive the information, support, and care they deserve.
