As board-certified interventional radiologists, Dr. Cathryn Shaw and Dr. Suzanne Slonim specialize in minimally invasive procedures performed with X-ray guidance. Women make up only about 12 percent of physicians in this highly specialized field. Together, these Dallas fibroid doctors bring more than 30 years of experience and over 45,000 interventional radiology cases to every patient they treat. By offering UFE in an outpatient office setting, they help women find lasting fibroid relief without major surgery.
Suzanne Slonim, MD, FSIR, FACR, established Fibroid Institute in 2016 after seeing how often women underwent surgery for uterine fibroids when a less invasive option was available. The 2026 honor marks Dr. Slonim’s 11th D Magazine Best Doctors in Dallas recognition in the past 13 years: 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Cathryn Shaw, MD holds board certification from the American Board of Radiology. Since joining Fibroid Institute in early 2025, she has made it her mission to educate women about advanced, non-surgical options for treating uterine fibroids. Dr. Shaw previously spent much of her career as a partner in one of the largest high-volume private radiology practices in the country.
