Understanding Uterine Fibroid Symptoms, Causes, Treatments
Join The Women’s Fund and Fibroid Institute for an educational webinar during Uterine Fibroid Awareness Month focused on helping women better understand uterine fibroids, recognize common symptoms, and explore today’s treatment options.
Uterine fibroids are one of the most common health conditions affecting women, with up to 80% developing fibroids by age 50. These non-cancerous growths can vary in size and location and may cause symptoms that significantly impact daily life. While some women never experience symptoms, others struggle with heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, abdominal bloating, frequent urination, lower back pain, painful periods, fertility challenges, or anemia caused by excessive blood loss.
During this informative webinar, attendees will learn about the possible causes and risk factors associated with fibroids, how fibroids are diagnosed, and the latest advances in treatment. The discussion will cover both surgical and non-surgical approaches, including uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), myomectomy, hysterectomy, medication management, and other minimally invasive therapies.
Special attention will be given to the importance of early diagnosis and understanding which treatment options may be appropriate based on a woman’s symptoms, fibroid size and location, future fertility goals, and overall health needs. Participants will gain practical information to help them have more informed conversations with their healthcare providers and make confident decisions about their care.
Black women and Hispanic women are disproportionately affected by uterine fibroids, often experiencing symptoms at younger ages and with greater severity. This webinar also aims to raise awareness about health disparities and the importance of access to comprehensive fibroid care.
Whether you have recently been diagnosed, are researching treatment options, or simply want to learn more about uterine fibroids, this webinar provides an opportunity to hear from experts, ask questions, and access trusted educational resources.
We’re proud to stand alongside our community, make strides toward healthier living together, prioritize your fibroid health, and spread uterine fibroid awareness.
