Texas Fibroid Awareness Month Exciting Events!

This July, the Barbara Jordan Leadership Institute, Fibroid Institute Texas, medical providers, elected officials, as well as corporate, nonprofit and community leaders will unite to host the 2^nd Annual Texas Fibroid Awareness Month campaign.

To raise awareness about this critical medical issue, this enthusiastic coalition will address the life-altering physical, psychological, and economic impact that uterine fibroids have on up to 80% of women. Uterine fibroids are one of the most common health issues facing women of all races. Many women experience symptoms such as significant pelvic pain, increased urinary frequency, anemia, miscarriages, infertility, and heavy bleeding. Despite the commonality of this condition, there is a lack of research funding, and overall awareness for women to talk through treatment options with their physicians.

The campaign will include educational forums, a feminine hygiene product supply drive and will culminate in fun and informative Self-Care Health & Beauty Fairs across the state. These events will include medical vendors, speakers from healthcare and beauty industries and children’s activities. Events are family-friendly and FREE for guests to attend.

By leveraging the power of webinars, television, print media, community outreach, social media and in-person events, thousands of caring people across Texas will unite to improve access to information about and resources to address uterine fibroids.
