When It Takes More than Hard Work for That Flat Stomach
Deborah was a bodybuilder for 15 years and power lifted for 5. She always had a flat stomach. When she turned 49 years old, she began to notice a pooch. No matter how much she worked out or how well she ate, it wouldn’t go away. At 50 years old, she had a standard colonoscopy. The results required further testing and she had an MRI. The final results came back fine, but they discovered she had fibroids. Deborah remembers, “I went to my OBGYN and she suggested a hysterectomy. That was not an option for me. So, I started doing my research on other procedures to get rid of the fibroids.” During this timeframe, she heard an advertisement on the radio, “Fibroid Free and no surgery” and decided to call. The Fibroid Institute gave her information on UFE (Uterine Fibroid Embolization). She also went to the FibroidFree.com website to see how the procedure was done and checked prices with a representative.
During this time, the Fibroid Institute was holding a mixer event and she attended. During the event, she spoke with other women inquiring about UFE and women who had undergone the Uterine Fibroid Embolization procedure. Doing her research and having those conversations made her feel more comfortable. Deborah shares, “I had the procedure on December 26, 2019 and it went well. The day after the procedure I was just very tired and slept all day. The second day, Dr. Slonim said I would have some pain and the pain level would be between 1-10. My pain level was a 1. It felt like low-grade menstrual cramps. Dr. Slonim gave me detailed instructions and medication to manage my pain around the clock. By day three, it did not even feel like I had anything done and the puncture on my wrist was very small.”
Deborah was happy with her decision for Uterine Fibroid Embolization. “Dr. Slonim answered my calls and questions during recovery. She even recommended smooth green tea when I had issues having a bowel movement because of a loss of appetite.” Deborah said, “I started seeing results within the first week! I was very excited; I finally started to see my stomach go down. I only had one regret that I didn’t have the procedure done sooner. Here are pictures from December and May. Five months of fibroids shrinkage. Yay!! Still shrinking daily.”
