The Fibroid Institute is proud to share that fibroid doctor Suzanne Slonim, MD will be recognized as a Spartan Women of Impact honoree at the Texas Elite Spartans’ Elite Women Who Lead Night.
This award is a first for the local women’s football team, honoring women who lead—on and off the field. At their first home game of the season on March 28 the team will recognize Dr. Slonim of the Fibroid Institute and DeDe McGuire of the DeDe In The Morning radio show.
The event will coincide with a special night at the Game Opener with the Fibroid Institute as a sponsor, educating fans on women’s health and raising awareness about uterine fibroids.
Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous growths that affect up to 70–80% of women, with Black and Hispanic women experiencing a disproportionate burden. While many fibroids are symptom-free, about 1 in 4 women will experience painful and sometimes debilitating symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, frequent urination, constipation, back pain, infertility, and pregnancy complications.
Historically, hysterectomy has been the most common treatment, but today there are many less invasive options available—including uterine fibroid embolization (UFE).
We’re proud to stand alongside our community, make strides toward healthier living together, and spread uterine fibroid awareness with the support of the Texas Elite Spartans and their fans.
