Dr. Cathryn Shaw and Dr. Suzanne Slonim are board certified interventional radiologists, trained to perform minimally invasive procedures with x-ray guidance. Suzanne Slonim, MD, FSIR, FACR, founded Fibroid Institute in 2016 out of concern for the high incidence of surgeries to treat uterine fibroids. As the institute’s medical director, she has dedicated her practice to expanding access to a minimally invasive procedure called uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) and educating women about fibroid treatment options. Cathryn Shaw, MD is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. She joined the highly specialized practice in early 2025 with the goal of educating women about non-surgical, state-of-the-art uterine fibroid treatment. Before bringing her knowledge to Fibroid Institute, Dr. Shaw spent most of her career as a partner in one of the largest, high-volume private practice radiology groups in the United States. At Fibroid Institute, women can expect concierge service—from consultation to their procedure and recovery, through follow up. Dr. Shaw adds, “Our goal is to ensure women are well-informed about their treatment options for fibroids, and the support of our partnering physicians helps spread the word.
